2027 is our 40th Anniversary!  We’re looking to do some new promo items, participate in art shows, set up at cons/events, and would love to publish another zine issue..! Thanks to all who made it out to the March Dinner Gathering!  The photos look like we had a great crowd.  I was sad to not be with you all, but was also glad to visit New York and the Jim Henson Creature Shop.  I have some images below to share from the Museum of the Moving Image – I’m always intrigued by concept art and story boards and hope you find them inspiring, too. MSCA: March Dinner Gathering And 2027 Art Shows

Greetings Pencil Pushers, Ink Slingers, Digital Doodlers, Wordsmiths, and Enthusiasts,

Always glad to see everyone out for the dinner gatherings!

“I’m not local to the MSCA, how can I participate?”  That’s a question I’ve heard before, and my suggestion is:

1) Share our emails to folks who may be interested in comics and cartoons, and ask them to sign up at midsouthcartoonists@gmail.com;
2) Come to art shows, buy comics, visit www.midsouthcartoonists.com and listen to www.drawingfunny.com podcasts;
3) Share our posts on social media;
4) Print and share posters, or save and share to your socials;
5) Create your own cartoonist meet-ups in your city;
6) and most importantly, per our Purpose, “Promote Cartoon as Art!”

I’m certain there are other ways to participate, what do you think you can do from afar? Anything I didn’t think of here?  Let me know.

Have news to help the MSCA promote Cartoons as Art?  Please send it to me before the last Monday of the month so I can share with everyone.

While we’d always hope you’d like to get the emails to share in news of promoting cartoon as art, if you need to be removed from the email list let me know and I’ll get that taken care of.

MSCA: Dec Dinner Gathering/Art Swap, Art of the Game Exhibition, And 2026 Calendar

News from MSCA president Kevin L. Williams:

Hi, fellow purveyors of Toondom! Lots of fun things coming up below.

Thank you for a fantastic 2025!  We have achieved so much, especially our mission: Promoting cartoon as art!  And I’m proud of seeing how much work was done outside of the group as individual members were taking on their own publications, art shows, and more.  MORE!  Proud of you all.  I love seeing your success stories, and hearing about them when we get together.  Keep arting around.

Please send me all your news, pictures, etc., before the last Monday of November so I can share with your fellow ‘toonists in our December 2025 email. Don’t forget to stay ‘tooned to www.midsouthcartoonists.org and www.drawingfunny.com for all your news and updates, as well as the facebook page: www.facebook.com/midsouthcartoonists/
