This morning at the end of “Live At 9” host Kontji Anthony mentioned that local cartoonists will be on the air with her for tomorrow morning’s show.

Greg Cravens and I (Lin Workman) will be sliding by WREG News Channel 3‘s studios down by the river bright and early to draw funny, talk toons, share some MSCA history, and educate the public on our group and its upcoming 40th anniversary in 2027.

We’ll also be discussing our MSCA monthly dinner gatherings at Garibaldi’s Pizza off Walker/Highland near the U of M. We meet there on the first Tuesday of each month and will be there this coming Tuesday, March 3rd from 6-8pm.

MSCA monthly meet-ups are free and open to the public- just bring a few bucks to order off the menu and be sure to introduce yourself. We always love to have folks bring along what they’ve been working on to show the group, talk toons, draw on jam pieces, work on tablets/laptops/sketchbooks, or doodle on napkins with us! We’ve also been known to have some fun freebies for attendees to enjoy. Please help yourself to some swag or bring any promos you’d like to share with the group.

If you are not old enough to drive yourself to the dinner event, please have a parent attend with you. If you’re not sure about meeting a group of sketchy strangers all by yourself, then feel free to bring along a friend or two with you. We’re the group in the large dining room on the right.

Created in 1987, the Mid-South Cartoonists Association (MSCA) is a non-profit organization comprised of professional cartoonists, aspiring cartoonists, and cartooning enthusiasts. Our mission is to promote cartooning as art and bring together cartooning professionals, aspiring professionals and cartooning fans of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels. Apparently the MSCA is still one of the Memphis area’s best kept secrets, and after 4 decades we’d like to change that!
