Howdy Purveyors of the Toon,

Dinner gathering, outreach opportunity, and more in this email!

Our last dinner gathering found folks sharing their reference materials and books for inspiration.  Do you have an idea of anything you’d like to see shared at an MSCA Dinner Gathering? Please forward to any friends interested in cartoon as art.  Always keep up with the MSCA News at www.midsouthcartoonists.org and by following us at https://www.facebook.com/midsouthcartoonists/.  Always fun to catch up via the podcast at www.drawingfunny.com for more updates and information.

2027 is our 40th Anniversary!  We’re looking to do some new promo items, participate in art shows, set up at cons/events, and would love to publish another zine issue..! What ideas do you have for fun celebratory plans we could do?  Reply to the recent group email or get to me in person. Continue reading

Hi, adored pencil pushers, ink slingers, wordsmiths, and digital doodlers,

Ready for some more outreach?  We had a fun time at Ave Maria Home in March with another visit due on Tuesday, April 14 3-5pm; and then Sunday, June 7, from 3-5pm we’ll gather at A. Schwab’s for a panel discussion about comics and a portfolio review!  More details below, but please let me know if you can make it.

Stay ‘tooned to www.midsouthcartoonists.org and www.drawingfunny.com for more updates and information.  You can also follow us at https://www.facebook.com/midsouthcartoonists/

Please share with your favorite comic friends and artists who might be interested in promoting cartoon as art!

Sincerely,

MSCA: March Dinner Gathering And 2027 Art Shows

From MSCA President Kevin L. Williams:

Greetings Pencil Pushers, Ink Slingers, Digital Doodlers, Wordsmiths, and Enthusiasts,

Always glad to see everyone out for the dinner gatherings!

“I’m not local to the MSCA, how can I participate?”  That’s a question I’ve heard before, and my suggestion is:

1) Share our emails to folks who may be interested in comics and cartoons, and ask them to sign up at midsouthcartoonists@gmail.com;
2) Come to art shows, buy comics, visit www.midsouthcartoonists.com and listen to www.drawingfunny.com podcasts;
3) Share our posts on social media;
4) Print and share posters, or save and share to your socials;
5) Create your own cartoonist meet-ups in your city;
6) and most importantly, per our Purpose, “Promote Cartoon as Art!”

I’m certain there are other ways to participate, what do you think you can do from afar? Anything I didn’t think of here?  Let me know.

Have news to help the MSCA promote Cartoons as Art?  Please send it to me before the last Monday of the month so I can share with everyone.

While we’d always hope you’d like to get the emails to share in news of promoting cartoon as art, if you need to be removed from the email list let me know and I’ll get that taken care of.

Sincerely,
Kevin Williams,
MSCA President
