Please join me and the Mid-South Cartoonists Association at Germantown Community Theatre for our next art show “Drawn of the Dead,” which we expect to be so fun it’s scary.  Running October 10 – November 10, 2025, at 3037 Forest Hill Irene, Germantown, TN 38138.  Box office hours are Monday through Friday 10 – 4, and 2 hours before showtimes.

The artists’ reception will be 5 – 7 pm on October 10, 2025, with lots of surprises on hand, and COSTUMES WELCOME!  Since 1987, the MSCA has promoted cartoon as art and would love to see you there.  www.midsouthcartoonists.org

RULE ONE: HAVE FUN!  You can be as funny or literal with the submissions as you like.  It’s a mixed audience, so we want to stay away from far-leaning politics (stay centered) and while innuendo is acceptable keep in mind that kids will be there, too.

Let me know if you are interested in participating and how many pieces you wish to submit.  The spaces we need to fill are 4×4’, We can have 4 smaller pieces, 2 or 3 medium pieces, or 1 large piece, to fill the area.  You can submit one piece of art or 10 pieces.

Your art can be pencil and/or ink on paper, it can be a cartoon and a fine-art piece; it can be textiles, sculpture, photography, mixed media, trash-to-art – there are a gazillion ways to use art, and we’re always excited to see what people create!

MONEY 
The gallery will take care of sales: artist 60%, theater 40%.

There will be a $5/piece hanging fee, so charge for your art accordingly.  This is to offset expenses such as reception snacks, postcards and postage for advertising purposes, transportation, etc.  If you have questions about this, please let me know.

ART FRAMING & NAMING 

Art MUST BE turned in by the dinner gathering just before the event – we’ve all had time to get some art created!

Art MUST be ready to hang (wired on back or some other way).  If it is not, and cannot be hung, we will not hang the art.

The art does NOT have to be professionally framed, but DOES have to “look like it.”  For unframed canvas, please use gallery-wrapped canvas and don’t forget to paint the sides of the canvas as well.  (Art not properly framed for hanging will be rejected or hung toward the back of the gallery.)

Artists MUST submit the following information:
-Title
-Media used
-Price or NFS (Not for Sale)
-Artist Name
-Ways to contact the artist
(Please write clearly or type it, affixed to the back of the art.  If we don’t receive this from you, your art may not be tagged with your details.)

COMMUNICATION AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT 

If you haven’t already, artists MUST send a caricature and bio, including your website and/or social media, to be displayed.

THE RECEPTION/PARTY 

The members whose art is on display will be asked to bring along a refreshment for the art show reception.  These are always fun times to visit with one another, but also to network with attendees, share information about you with strangers, and promote, promote, promote yourself in person!

Artists agreeing to participate in art shows will not hold the MSCA nor the location liable or responsible for the artwork submitted, or any supernatural encounters.
