The theme will obviously be Frankenstein, but don’t forget that there are many other Halloween-y things you can use: Renfield and his buffet of bugs, Dracula or any “Universal Studios” type monster, anything lucky or unlucky, aliens/UFOs, cryptids (bigfoot, Loch Ness Monster, Cthulhu), ghosts, spooky castles, horror hosts like Elvira or SIVAD, and more (mystery kids and their dog? Abbott and Costello? Angels vs. Demons.  Villains and bad guys. Bats, wolves, cats…).

THE ARTWORK:

Art piece information should be attached to the back with the following information:  Title, Size, Medium, Artist Name, Price, and Contact details/website.  Or, send a digital photo or scan of the work with the information to midsouthcartoonists@gmail.com to help with inventory.  We will create the title cards for the show.

All work must have wiring on the back to keep hanging simple and easy (usually, there are hooks for hanging, so the flat “sawtooth” hangers won’t work).  Wiring can be done at places like Michael’s, 1910 Frame Shop, and some of our group graduated from art college and can help get this done properly.

If you haven’t yet, please submit a caricature and biography with a blurb about your social media, websites, contact, etc., that you would like to share with viewers of the art.  Please send this to midsouthcartoonists@gmail.com. You can see if you’ve already submitted a biography here: www.midsouthcartoonists.org/membersdirectory/

Art MUST be ready to hang (wired on back or some other way).  If it is not, and cannot be hung, we will not hang the art.

The art does NOT have to be professionally framed, but DOES have to “look like it.”  For unframed canvas, please use gallery-wrapped canvas and don’t forget to paint the sides of the canvas as well.  (Art not properly framed for hanging will be rejected or hung toward the back of the gallery.)

Artists MUST submit the following information:
-Title
-Media used
-Price or NFS (Not for Sale)
-Artist Name
-Ways to contact the artist
(Please write clearly or type it, affixed to the back of the art.  If we don’t receive this from you, your art may not be tagged with your details.)

COMMUNICATION AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

If you haven’t already, artists MUST send a caricature and bio, including your website and/or social media, to be displayed.

Prior to the art show, the art show promotional art and a copy/paste paragraph will be sent to all participants so you can share on social media and with your personal email lists.  To ensure your caricature and bio has been turned in, please visit: www.midsouthcartoonists.org/membersdirectory/

THE RECEPTION/PARTY

The members whose art is on display will be asked to bring along a refreshment for the art show reception.  These are always fun times to visit with one another, but also to network with attendees, share information about you with strangers, and promote, promote, promote yourself in person!

THE DISCLAIMER

Artists agreeing to participate in art shows will not hold the MSCA nor the location liable or responsible for the artwork submitted, or any supernatural encounters.

If you have not participated in an art show before, we’re all here to help.  Ask questions! Our email address is midsouthcartoonists@gmail.com.

Remember, art is due by the October 7th Dinner Gathering (this is the absolute due date).  Please bring art to the dinner gathering at Garibaldi’s Pizza or work out delivery details with Kevin.
