New “Drawing Funny” Episode – MSCA Event News

Hey, gang- not only is there a new MSCA “Drawing Funny” podcast episode, but the MSCA was featured on “The Real Hernando” podcast this week, too! (Click on the highlighted hyperlinks or links in the show notes to check them both out.)

Show notes: For this “Drawing Funny” episode I share some news on events planned for next month and going forward this year- such as the upcoming 901 Comics East Drink-N-Draw night (and recent Sat-Art-Day), our next Mid-South Cartoonists Association monthly dinner meet-up at Garibaldi’s Pizza, plus upcoming our upcoming “Funny Pages” art show at Germantown Community Theatre, Memphis Monster Con and Memphis Monster Market, “The Rogues Gallery” pop-up shop at Centerpoint Games & Toys, and other events around Memphis and the mid-south area.

I also go over some info about deadlines for our next “The Good, The Bad, And The Sketchy” zine and “Funny Pages” art show, and where you can purchase a copy of our zines in shops and events around town.

In other local news- MSCA President Kevin L. Williams and I were recently featured on SRP Studios’ “The Real Hernando” podcast . We were invited on to talk toons with host Derrick Michaud and share some info on the MSCA, and our history and involvement with the group over the years. I walked away with recording studio envy..! You can listen to the audio version of the podcast on Spotify, Apple, or most podcasting platforms, and watch the video version on Facebook, YouTube, and on “The Real Hernando” website . Thanks to Derrick for shining a spotlight on the MSCA!

Since 1987, the MSCA has promoted cartooning as art with members who are professional and amateur cartoonists and writers, and cartoon enthusiasts. We meet on the first Tuesday of each month from 6pm – 8pm at Garibaldi’s Pizza, 3530 Walker Ave. near the University of Memphis. Our meetings and drawing events are free and open to the public. We welcome cartoonists of all ages and stages!
