Well, 2025 is winding down, and Lin Workman and Kevin L. Williams got together at the beginning of this week to record an MSCA Year End Review for the “Drawing Funny” Podcast.

Episode 87 – “MSCA 2025 Year End Review” can be found at www.drawingfunny.com, Spotify, Apple, or most any other podcasting platforms. Run time: 1hr 36min 11sec
Show notes: It’s time for our annual MSCA Year End Review with the Mid-South Cartoonists Association’s president Kevin L. Williams. We grabbed some dinner at Huey’s in midtown, and then headed over to his place to record this episode. We look back on events from another busy art year for us, and we look ahead to what’s coming up for our cartooning group, and other seasonal events and holiday markets in and around Memphis. We also discuss details on the MSCA’s Monthly Dinner Gatherings at Garibaldi’s Pizza (1st Tuesday of each month from 6-8pm), our recent Annual Holiday Art Swap, the upcoming “The Art Of The Game” happening in December/January at the Memphis Jewish Community Center, our other previous art shows at Germantown Community Theatre and Playhouse on the Square, our group anthology zine, Rouge’s Gallery events, Ave Maria Home visits, the local convention scene, Con Cards, Choose 901 article, Andre L. Miller, and more. We also look back at some of the interviews I did for the 17 episodes of “Drawing Funny” in 2025 such as Holtermmonster with the Monster Market, Beale Street Monster Club’s co-founder Michael Cox, MSCA alum Mike Norton, Comics Universe owner “Lethal” Rethal Miller, Greg Cravens, Ryan “Big Daddy” Ladner, That Katie Jones, my wife Nicki Workman, and appearances on the Comic Geek Speak podcast and Geek Tank Radio show on 98.1 The Max/News Talk 989. It was definitely another busy year for all of us artists in 2025. Hope to see you around the M-Town in 2026. Be sure to slide by the many MSCA events going on around the mid-south area, and please stop by my con table and say hi, and/or hit me up to be on the podcast!

Hope you’re all doing well and have a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Fantastic Festivus, and a wonderful New Year.

The next day, Tuesday, December 6th, was the final MSCA Monthly Dinner Gathering at Garibaldi’s Pizza near the U of M. We met there from 6-8pm, and do so on the first Tuesday of each month.

We had another great turnout for our last dinner of the year.

It was also the night for our MSCA Annual Holiday Art Swap, and a few members like Ryan and Eric dressed appropriately for the event.

We had a great variety of original art, art prints, art supplies, and more for the art swap. We also had a freebies table with lots of free swag for attendees to take home, too.

Kevin read out the rules and let folks who brought items for the art swap to pick a number to win a prize to take home.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the annual holiday art swap this year.

We also had some members do some drawing and bring Christmas cards to share (thanks, Ryan!).

Our next monthly dinner gathering at Garibaldi’s Pizza will be on Tuesday, January 6, 2025 from 6-8pm. We meet in the big dining room on the right. Be sure to introduce yourself!

The last event of 2025 is going to be the upcoming Mid-South Cartoonists Association‘s “The Art Of The Game”, which is happening in December 22, 2025 – January 30, 2026 at the Memphis Jewish Community Center on Poplar Avenue near Germantown. Artists’ Reception will be on January 8, 2025 from 5-7pm.

Stay sketchy, my friends..!
